Kitz Y-Strainer

The Kitz Y-Strainer is a pipeline filtration device named for its distinctive Y-shaped body, designed to remove solid particles, pipe scale, rust, and debris from fluid systems to protect downstream equipment such as pumps, control valves, flow meters, steam traps, and heat exchangers from damage and premature wear. The strainer screen — available in various mesh sizes — is housed in the angled leg of the Y-body, allowing for easy access and cleaning without removing the strainer from the pipeline, significantly reducing maintenance downtime and costs. Manufactured to JIS B2011, ANSI/MSS SP-80, and JWWA standards, Kitz Y-strainers are available in a comprehensive range of body materials to suit virtually any fluid and application: bronze and brass variants (Class 150/300) are ideal for water supply, steam, HVAC, and general commercial plumbing applications requiring moderate pressure and temperature ratings; cast iron variants (JIS 5K/10K) provide economical, robust filtration for larger water distribution, cooling water, and industrial pipeline systems; and stainless steel variants offer superior corrosion resistance for chemical processing, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, and marine applications where product purity and resistance to aggressive media are critical. The built-in bypass valve option on select models (10BWZ Dual Plate type) allows continuous system operation during screen cleaning, making it suitable for critical process systems that cannot be shut down for maintenance. Lead-free KEEPALLOY® and NSF61-certified variants are available for potable water and municipal water supply applications complying with JWWA Z-49 and JWWA F-68 standards. Available in threaded (BS21/JIS B0203/ASME B1.20.1), flanged (JIS B2240), and solder (ASME B16.18) end connections across sizes from 3/8" to 12".
